How to change a Galaxy Watch face and customize it

Use the watch for a quick switch, or Galaxy Wearable for a larger view of the available designs. These instructions cover Wear OS Galaxy watches; the exact labels and available options depend on your software and the selected face.

Change directly on the watch

  1. Wake the display and touch and hold the current watch face.
  2. Swipe through the saved designs. If yours is absent, open Add watch face and browse the installed collection.
  3. Tap the design you want to make it active. Returning to the time screen confirms the selection.

Change from your phone

Open Galaxy Wearable with the correct watch connected, then open Watch faces. Choose the design you want. If you use several watches, verify which one the app is controlling before downloading or changing anything.

Edit colors and fields

Long-press the active face and choose Customize when available. Move through the supported settings, select a color or data source and save or confirm. Each design defines its own options: a setting present in one face is not automatically available in another.

Downloaded, but not in the favorites?

Check Add watch face rather than only the short list of saved faces. Also confirm that Google Play installed the watch component. A phone app icon or a purchase receipt does not prove that installation on the watch has finished.

The phone editor will not open

Try customizing directly on the watch. For example, the MD242 developer specifically recommends the watch-side editor when Galaxy Wearable has trouble loading that design. This is a product-specific workaround, not evidence that every editing error has the same cause.

Keep a simple fallback

Before changing several settings, remember which face and data providers worked. If a new setup fails, return to a built-in face, then change one setting at a time. Include the face name, watch model and OS version in a support request.
