Maneki Time
A maneki-neko for your wrist: the round subscreen of the monochrome Garmin Instinct holds an original lucky cat whose paw waves once a second, while big bold 24-hour time fills the left of the screen. A badge shows the weekday, then the date, battery with an icon, altitude and real UTC at the bottom. Switch to a white background, or stop the paw if you prefer a still cat.

A little luck, every second
The subscreen has a tenant
The Instinct’s round window is exactly cat-sized: triangular ears, round cheeks, a bib and a coin, drawn from scratch in pixels — no clip art. The paw goes up, the paw goes down, once a second.
Waving without the bill
Garmin only allows one-second updates if they are cheap. Maneki Time repaints just the paw — a 13 × 22 pixel patch — reads no sensors and loads nothing in that path. If the watch ever refuses the budget, the cat simply holds still.
Bold, readable time
The numerals are cut from Archivo SemiBold into crisp bitmap fonts with no anti-aliasing, so they stay sharp on a monochrome MIP panel. Local time is always 24-hour; the footer is real UTC from the watch clock.
Real data, quietly
Battery, date and altitude refresh once a minute; altitude falls back to five minutes of sensor history and shows “--” when there is none. Nothing runs in the background.
