Free Garmin watch faces: how to find good ones
There are plenty of free Garmin watch faces — the trick is telling the good ones from the throwaway skins. Here is where to look and what to check before you install.
Where to get them
All Garmin faces, free or paid, install through the Connect IQ Store and sync via Garmin Connect — there is no sideloading and you should not need any. Filter the store by free, and sort by rating and recency.
What to check before installing
- Permissions match the face. A plain clock should not ask for much; weather and sunrise need location. If a free face requests broad data it does not display, skip it. (More on this in our privacy approach.)
- Battery. Free does not mean efficient — a bright always-on face can cost power. See do watch faces drain battery?
- Your exact model is in the supported list.
- Recent updates and reviews mentioning your watch on current firmware.
Free vs paid
Free faces are great for simple, clean looks. Paid faces (usually a small one-time price) tend to be more polished, more configurable, and better maintained. Neither is “better” — it depends on what you want.
Our free pick is Lumen — a clean AMOLED digital face with nine accent colours and five data slots, battery-smart by design. Browse the rest in the best Garmin watch faces guide.
